McNamara’s Pub and Eatery – Dupont, WA

Standard

I met up with a friend at McNamara’s Pub and Eatery, an Irish themed pub, last night for some much needed “Girl Time”. We were immediately seated in the dining room by a pleasant hostess. We met our waitress rather quickly, which I like. Our waitress was really friendly and not pushy, which I also like. She told us about some of the drink specials but unfortunately, we has just missed Happy Hour. Darn! While we read over the drink menu, she brought us some water to start with.

I had been here before and ordered Tot Chos (think nachos but with tater tots!) – yum! Although I was really leaning towards ordering some more Tot Chos … I decided to branch out and try something new.

Our waitress came back and we were ready to order. For starters, I ordered a Strawberry Basil Lemondrop. I really enjoyed the flavor of the drink. The sweetness of the strawberry flavor and sugar on the rim mixed well with a minor kick with the fresh basil. For dinner, I ordered the Cod and Chips ($12.99).

My dinner came out with piping hot fries, pieces of Cod fried to perfection, a side of slaw and homemade tartar sauce. The fries were crispy and not overly salty. The Cod had a great crispy breading and the Cod was perfectly cooked, not dry. It had a great taste! Personally, I thought the slaw was lacking in taste … it was rather bland. But … the homemade tartar sauce? I would really like to know what is in that tartar sauce. It was DELICIOUS! I am not usually a fan of tartar sauce, I think it can have an overwhelming tart (no pun intended) flavor. The tartar sauce at McNamara’s was far different than any tartar sauce I’ve had. I could swear it has a hint of ranch flavoring to it. Unlike many other tartar sauces, which have a lumpy consistency, the tartar sauce at McNamara’s has a smooth, dressing like consistency. It is really, really good. Flavorful!

Overall, the meal was very good. I don’t recall ever really ordering fish n’ chips at a restaurant before. I always worry about the freshness of the fish. This was a good experience! Our waitress was really attentive without being annoying or pushy. Always a plus! The atmosphere is fun and relaxing at the same time. My friend and I were able to enjoy our food, drinks, and have a conversation over the course of a few hours.

I admit, I forgot to snap a few pictures of our meal. Fail! But trust me, the establishment is worth checking out. Go for the food, stay for the fun!
