When my husband asked me to help him represent his company at the 236th Army Birthday Celebration Ball, I was very honored and excited! I immediately set out looking for the perfect dress.
I am not one to shop at the local malls for a ball dress because a) that is probably where everyone else is going to shop as well and b) I don’t tend to like the style of dresses out at the malls these days. I started shopping online and bookmarking my favorite dresses. One website in particular held most of my favorites: PromGirl.com. I was able to easily pick out several beautiful dresses and for extraordinarily reasonably prices. I went back and forth on deciding on “the one” and unfortunately, waiting cost me to lose out on some that I had chosen because they were no longer available in my size. While browsing through PromGirl’s selection one last time, I stumbled upon an absolutely stunning dress!
I fell in love with a majestic purple dress by La Femme. It had a sweetheart bodice and empire waist. I loved how the poly chiffon fabric flowed down to the ground with such elegance. Although the dress was a bit out of my price range, my husband urged me to get it. The dress was on sale for a reasonable $179 and I found an online coupon code that gave me a free shipping upgrade to next day mail. Perfect!
My dress arrived and I was excited to try it on … perhaps a little nervous and hoping it wasn’t too small (Yes, I openly admit I was slacking on my daily workout routine!). I had measured myself and ordered a size 6 according to Prom Girl’s sizing chart for that particular dress. I tried on the dress and … wow! It fit like it was made especially for me and I instantly felt like royalty! In the photo on Prom Girl’s website, I knew I loved how the dress flowed but it was so much better in person. The dress was floor length but I felt that when I walked, the dress formed a bit of a train behind me, which to me, gave the dress that much more of an elegant touch. The majestic purple color went great with my skin tone, which was an extra plus. The dress itself was extremely well made, durable … and absolutely stunning!
On the day of the 236th Army Birthday Celebration Ball, I paired the dress with silver and rhinestone heels purchased from Alley Kat and that I had worn to a previous Army ball. I also wore earrings and a necklace that I had worn on my wedding day over six years ago. My hair was done by none other than Traci Chepoda from Le Belle Salon & Spa in Yelm, WA (she always does such a fantastic job with my hair!). When my husband saw me all dressed up, the huge ear-to-ear smile on his face was such a huge compliment. But this review needs to be about the dress! I do need to mention that I received several compliments on my dress at the Army ball!
If you’re looking for a formal dress or even a cocktail dress, I would recommend PromGirl.com. They have an incredibly huge selection that will fit any budget. You can easily find beautiful dresses for $99 up to $900 or more.
Some advice: The dress I purchased was a final sale/no return dress (not all the dresses are like that). I highly recommend that when you choose a dress, no matter how certain you are of your size, DOUBLE CHECK the sizing chart for that particular dress! You may be surprised to see that the dress may run big or small. I know that I wear a size 6 but according to different sizing charts for different dresses, I ranged from a size 4 to a size 10! That is a big difference!
Thank you PromGirl for your excellent and speedy customer service and for providing such an excellent selection of beautiful dresses!
